In a surprising turn of events, former Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson took center stage to kick off the latest episode with a cold open that sharply criticized ICE agents in a comedic yet pointed manner.
Davidson portrayed Tom Homan, who in reality is attempting to mitigate rising tensions between ICE officers and residents of Minneapolis. However, as Davidson's version of Homan engaged with the ICE agents, it became apparent just how formidable this challenge was.
"Let's discuss the use of force," Homan prompted the officers. "When should we decide to use force?"
One of the agents, played by cast member Jeremy Culhane, quickly responded, "Right away?"
"No, think about it differently," Homan urged.
Another officer, enacted by Andrew Dismukes, chimed in, "Oh, I see: preemptively?"
"Also no," Homan replied, clarifying that it was somewhat of a trick question because ideally, using force is not the goal. "Remember, our ultimate mission is to protect America from... what exactly?"
James Austin Johnson, portraying another agent, ventured a guess, saying, "This might be incorrect, but... Don Lemon?"
Homan quickly snapped back, expressing his frustration, "You all need to step up your game! I’m the guy known for separating families at the border and taking bribes on camera, and here you are making me look like the sensible adult! That’s absurd!"
The cold open culminated with Johnson's character succinctly summarizing their predicament, stating, "You assembled a team of angry, aggressive individuals, handed us weapons, and didn’t provide any training—so maybe this chaos is what you anticipated?"
Homan retorted, "Come on now, don’t start engaging your brains!"
Additionally, the skit hinted at the recently released Epstein files, which stirred controversy. When one of the ICE agents brought up Epstein, Homan quipped, "We actually released those documents to divert attention from this situation, which is quite ironic since we created this distraction to cover up that news."
